John Bartram Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is celebrating its 5th birthday on December 7, 2018. Although we are a very new chapter, we have experienced unprecedented growth since our inception. Starting with 18 organizing members in 2013, we now have over 160 members. Our membership is limited to residents of The Villages and their guests due to the regulations of our age-restricted community. And most of our members are 50+ and retired. But we welcome a diverse membership with many retired nurses, school teachers, librarians, entrepreneurs, service women, housewives, grandmothers and other professions who have retired to the sunshine state from every state in the union. Coming from a variety of backgrounds and interests, we all share the common bond of having an ancestor who helped contribute to America’s independence. We encourage new members and prospective members to join our chapter throughout the year.
All of our chapter’s activities and programs are focused on the three principles of the DAR – Patriotism, Education, and Historic Preservation. And our achievements, recognition and awards are the direct result of our members and their involvement in our chapter’s activities and interests. We hope that you will find a committee, activity, or event that offers something meaningful to you as we work together in Service to America.
